A Single Christian Lady Discusses Abortion Honestly and Sensitively

       Hello, my name is Jennifer and I am a pro-lifer.   I have been actively  involved in the pro-life movement for the last two years.  For many years I knew that life begins at conception and that abortion is wrong, but I did not know enough about abortion to feel compelled to do something about it.   Meaning, it did not seem like such a horrifying act until I actually saw images of an abortion – images of a severed head and torn limbs.  Then I was appalled.  Then I was even more appalled when I heard that over 54 million abortions have been performed in the U.S. since 1973 (not including abortions induced by drugs such as the “Morning After Pill”.  Then I was even more appalled when I went out on to the streets and started doing outreaches and encountering the apathy not just among non-believers, but Christians.  Then I was appalled at the lack of response from churches that do not want to get involved in the pro-life cause because it is too “political”.  Then…everything about abortion and those who support and deceive others into supporting it is…appalling.
                Some facts about abortion:
·         As stated above, abortion has taken the lives of at least  54 million unborn Americans since Roe v. Wade in 1973 (this number only accounts for surgical abortions – not abortions induced by drugs such as “Morning After Pill”;
·         Abortions can be performed up to 9 months in some states in the US;
·         The most common abortion method performed is “suction aspiration,” in which “the cervix is dilated, and a hollow plastic tube with a tip inserted into the cervix and then into the uterus. An aspirator attached to the tube tears the body of the fetus apart and suctions the pieces through the tube” (source:  Pro-Life Action League);
·         Rape is the reason for 0.3 %, incest for 0.03% , and protection of mother’s life for 0.2 % of abortions – 98 % are due to “personal choice” (source: Pro-Life Action League).
Abortion has destroyed and continues to destroy millions of lives in the United States – it doesn’t just destroy the lives of the unborn, but also the mothers, the fathers, grandparents, and even the very fabric of our society.  As discouraging as it can be sometimes to work in the pro-life movement – to witness such widespread apathy – it is worth it to possibly touch one person’s heart.   For me, it is not necessarily just about saving the unborn child; it is also about saving the soul of the abortionist, abortion clinic worker, mother, father, etc.  Choosing life or death for a child can also mean choosing eternal life or death for oneself.  This one choice can be far-reaching.
Please, I encourage you to pray to God about the issue of abortion.  Ask Him if there is something you can do to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.  Perhaps you could commit to praying regularly for an end to abortion or that at least one heart will be converted. Or perhaps you could pray at the local abortion clinic or join a local pro-life group.  Something, anything, is better than not doing anything at all.
Thanks for listening and may God be with you.

       I think we all noticed the great Chicken Sandwich stand at Chick-fil-e. Busiest day in the history of the store! Dan Cathay told us what we already know. Marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman.  That is not a surprise! Christians have known that for 2000 years. if you don’t want to be married in GOD’s way you can have a civil union. that’s the law in the USA……I actually know a man and woman who don’t want to be married (because of the physical intimacy issue -didn’t want it) but chose to get a civil union and were refused….WHY? Because they were a man and woman! What’s up with that?

      Ok! So we all bought chicken sandwiches. Now what? I have some ways to keep you busy out of the box  (the building). Here are ways to “preach the gospel” with action.

* write a soldier an encouraging note. Thank them for their service and encourage their faith. I can give you a name and address or two!

*Help us give a deserving family a home! $10 will help alot. I have the address. Ask!

* Send a card of sympathy and understanding. send a get well card. Write a prisoner……..I have an address!!

* Take a homeless person to lunch (with you where YOU eat) onece a week for a month. Let them do 90% of the talking.

*Support EVERY local singing, meeting and special event at the churches in your town. Do not go to critique but to encourage (THERE IS MUCH TOO MUCH CRITICISM ALREADY).

Pray! Praise! Petition! Meditate! Be thankful!
