New Beginnings

I love the story of Paul’s conversion (Acts 22), Cornelius’ converson and reading about the transformation of the Apostles from timid disciples to spirit powered saints! Many of you have incredible stories of conversion! Please share them! And as the new year arrives, let us work to transform our lives and the Lord’s church around us! And let’s commit to praying for one another, study of the word and most importantly, transforming to be like Jesus!

And he named him Jesus!

Jesus (he will save his people). Matthew and Luke tell us the story of the virgin birth, humble beginnings and the awe of sheperds and angels. Jesus, the king is born!

Candles are lit…bells are ringing…carols sung…trees decorated…presents wrapped…streets adorned…Why? Because people are remembering Jesus! Let us remember to be like Jesus at this time of the year! Feed the hungry, visit the sick, call the lonely, send an extra card, take a widow (er) to lunch, check on the person who just went through a divorce (or the wife whose husband is away with the military). Remember the families who are touched by illnesses including Alsheimer’s or ALS. Check on one another.

The Dating Dilemma: where to look?

Genesis 24:1-29 and 50-67- Issac looks for love-

Has anyone tried to “set you up” on a date? This is the ultimate story  of a blind date working out. You might title it “Father Knows best” or “Mission Impossible”. What we do know is that Abraham was not impressed with the local girls and their behavior! He knew where to find a “good, old fashioned” lady and set the act in motion. His employee (modern speak) found this good, old fashioned lady and brought her to Isaac.

How do you feel when family or friends interfere with your personal life? How do you feel about travel? Do you only accept a “date” from a certain “looking” person. Where does spirituality and church affiliation fit?

I hope all of you who are “looking” for companionship find it. Meanwhile, date Jesus (Matthew 6:33). he understands and is a great date.

Busyness vs Loneliness

Do you ever find yourself so busy that you can’t think? Always something to do? I have to do my job…then I have to do my ministry…then I have to check on_______…….then I have to plant a garden…..then I have to………..But, at least I’m not lonely! But, something is missing. Peace? No time. Quiet? Nope. Meditation? Please, I’m too busy doing what the Lord wants me to do!!!

Read Mark 1:29-39! Jesus was busy doing (he was the Lord so definitely the Lord’s work). But he withdrew to pray and rest. Guess what? The work still found him (later). The point: make time for yourself and GOD. Activity doesn’t heal SPIRITUAL loneliness, it only masks it.
